Blender3D and Animation Question

I have been learning the inside and out of Blender pretty much for almost 1/2 a year... I was wondering if and when I should begin to tackle Animation... I ask because I want to become familar with Blender to the point where I will be able to do the following:

+ Pre-Game cinematics (opening videos)

Any insights, or feedback on this topic would be useful.

Start working with Blender 2.40. The release will be in a day. Completely new animation system for you.

Well, very good!

But you might be better off at a user forum, that's where all the animators hang out.
I'd say start with moving cars and objects. Then add moving the camera.
Then go into character animation (buy a book about it might help you alot)
Maybe forward animation first (no ika) Just to get the feel of it. (this means creating movements by rotating joints). Then dare full fletched IKA. By that time the orange project will have created a bunch of files for you to study.

Thanks guys!

BTW, tackling character modeling as of now -- kind of a newb at it considering I have been attempting to build people out of blocks... Lol. :P I've been getting use to of editing cylinders and their vertices, so hopefully soon I can begin some form of animation...
