BF-Blender(2007/06/21)+3Dsound(2007/06/21): Win & Linux

Post by Techmeology » Wed May 30, 2007 10:31 am

Hello.

After having been developing a patch for Blender to give more advanced 3Dsound (beyond the game engine), it was suggested that I start a thread here. The original thread in Blenderartists' forum can be found at: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthr ... 707&page=5.

Currently, I have builds for two platforms:
Windows: http://graphicall.org/builds/builds/sho ... how&id=421
Linux: http://graphicall.org/builds/builds/sho ... how&id=422.
The source can be found at:http://techmeologysite.tripod.com/blender3daudio.zip.

Last Update: 21st June 2007

Anyway. Have fun, and please feel free to comment. Enjoy.[/u]

I'd recommend putting your patch in the patch tracker.

Also you might want to join the bf-committers and SOC 2006 mailing lists and let them know about the patch. One of the SOC projects is a refactor of the sound system (moving to pure SDL I think). So you might want to talk to the SOC individual.

Also the link for the source isn't working for me.

Thank you. Although, I feel more time is needed for me to make the patch more stable (there are a few things which I have planned). I also have not finished making it expansion proof.

At present, the sound system allows simple editing (and some spatialisation with the game engine, I believe). One of the reasons I started this project was because of a lack of production usable 3D sound (e.g. surround sound for Elephant's Dream: The Sequel). Although this system is entirely separate from the existing functionality, discussion could be useful.

Hmm... You're the second person to tell me that. The last time it worked with another attempt (I can't replicate the fault).

Thank you for the support.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you, dreamkatana.
Sorry, I haven't been online recently (sometimes, I can be quite busy).
Several people have said that the source link is broken. It works for me, but...
Anyway. I've also included the source in the binary distributions.
Thank you in advance!
