Gentoo ebuild of the blender-bf cvs

Post by Pol »

Hi there,

Today I submitted my first ebuild to bugs.gentoo.org.

That ebuild build blender-bf from the cvs.
I encourage you to test it and to give me alot of feedback to improve it and like this maybe having it in the portage tree.

This is the link: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38004

bye

I had the following error:

Code: Select all

./../intern/guardedalloc -I../../../source/blender/include -I/usr/include/freetype2 -DWITH_FREETYPE2 -I/usr/include -I/usr/include -march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -funsigned-char -I/usr/include/freetype2 -DWITH_FREETYPE2 -c intern/winstuff.c -MT winstuff.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/winstuff.TPlo -o winstuff.o
echo timestamp > winstuff.lo
intern/freetypefont.c:57:29: BKE_utildefines.h: No such file or directory
gmake[4]: *** [freetypefont.lo] Error 1

make: *** [all] Error 2

!!! ERROR: media-gfx/blender-cvs-2.3.2 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 55, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
Any ideas? usually I don't compile the truetype fonts (and it works for me). Do I need to do anything to make this work?

Great, but what exactly is the Gentoo Build?? Is it a new version of blender, another GUI? I want to know. :D

Gentoo is a linux distribuition, its package management uses ebuilds. Instead of installing binaries (though you can do this) it compiles all the packages from source. This has many advantages and one disadvantage (compile time). the blender-cvs ebuild attempts to do this via a cvs checkout rather than from a release snapshot.

I'm testing the .ebuild right now and I also have an error.

gcc
-DHAVE_CONFIG_H
-I.
-I.
-I../../..
-I../../../source/blender/makesdna -I../../../intern/guardedalloc
-I../../../source/blender/include
-I/usr/include/freetype2
-DWITH_FREETYPE2
-I/usr/include
-I/usr/include
-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -funsigned-char
-I/usr/include/freetype2
-DWITH_FREETYPE2
-c intern/freetypefont.c
-MT freetypefont.lo
-MD -MP -MF .deps/freetypefont.TPlo
-o freetypefont.o
intern/freetypefont.c:57:29: BKE_utildefines.h: No such file or directory

I asked ton about the error and he told me to have a look @ the path in the gcc command cause the file BKE_utildefines.h exists.

I will try to look for it now. As soon as I have more info, I post it here.

I wrote myself a bf-blender cvs ebuild once too. it's good to have something like this.

on the other handside:
cvs update -dP && scons (on my computer) isn't too much to type. and you can apply patches alot easier than trough portage.

have a nice day.
yours, marc
