The new selection modes rock!
Ton, you are the man!
levon, cheers for the build!
Hopefully if face selection gets well received by the community, it'll be the default selection mode when entering edit mode
( and where's the 'ignore back face' option
)

Before you start asking questions read the feature notes.
http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Mesh_editi ... 425.0.html
EDIT: Ok, I'll try not to be rude.
Here's what he say about backface-selection. "TODO: Add 'FaceSelect mode' functionality in EditMode, including zbuffered selection, display and editing of UV texture."
Also, I don't think face selection would be the best default for b.blend, IMHO mixed selection mode would.

very cool build!
so all the uv-editing functionality will be merged into edit mode and the separate uv-face select mode will be removed? this would be great!

While holding SHIFT, and press a selection mode, you can also combine the above choices. Now selection becomes mixed, and will behave as expected.
I´m dreaming

Report:
The "bevel" function has been totally destroyed with this testing-build.
Here's what I get when trying to use bevel:
It will also crash quite a bit.
System:
AMD XP 2800+
2 GB 400 mhz ram
MSI FX 5900 "Nvidia" 128 mb graphics card
Windows 2000 service pack 4
BF 24_9_04.zip - blender test build as in this thread.

Confirmed. Same with Gabio's build. Although Blender does not crash on me.
