problem with bevel function in this build

Post by Napoleon » Sun Nov 07, 2004 12:57 am

I just came across this problem with the bevel function:

Image

If you look at the lower part of the image, you see that 2 of the aditional geometry created by the bevel function has got this edges runing diagonally across it. It is easy to recreate the problem. Its just a normal cube , sudivided once and then beveled with a recursion of 1.

PS: Can someone please post this in the bug tracker pls.

I agree with all the people that did not unserstand why a feature freeze now. I know it was a hard (and delicious) work recoding all the mesh stuff (edges, faces, vertices) but why not developing a month longer and:

* Including the softbody stuff
* the bridge tool
http://www.elysiun.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 320#309320
* and correct all these minor missing things:
http://www.neeneenee.de/blender/features/#6
http://www.neeneenee.de/blender/features/#9
http://www.neeneenee.de/blender/features/#11 (there was a built with advanced boolean:

and making a great chrismas build ;)

Just a question anmd a whish :)

PS: As i know Kester could not finish all the work of the GE too.

Personally I think there should be a month extra to take care of
the bugs (especially those that leads to crashes). As Blender gets
more complex and have more features than ever - It also have
more crashes than ever.

I used to be able to work all day without a single crash, but even
the latest release (BF 2.34 & a) has crashed quite frequently,
and of course most of the latest CVS compiles crashes several
times daily - especially when continuing work on earlier scenes & models.

I'd rather have less bugs than more features (even though I love the features, and the face/edge select mode is a god-send).

Well, I doubt softbodies could be coded properly in a month, and the CVS freeze is there to sort out the bugs. I agree that the bridge and boolean tools are kewl, but I bet there'll be a nice CVS build out with those before christmas;)

I can't get the bug tracker to work, so I'll post a few bugs here..

1, When you interact with a widget in any floating panel in the 3D View, IPO Editor and so on, with LMB Select, blender selects through it. This means that anything that is close to the panel will get seleted through the panel, even if you are just pressing a button or changing a number field.

2, The new edge and face loop select features do not work with LMB select mode + Emulate 3 Button Mouse.

It's working fine for me except rendering still has the ATI slowdown, and when I try to use border select it only selects the closest vertices...
other than that it is great

"will somebody help this guy out? he is just going to keep on posting until someone does"

I just fixed this, should be commited soon.

THEETH: Thank you for your calm, very professional reply. I do hope that as Blender becomes more mainstream you will be among those on the public support team as you exhibit the calm professional attitude that makes users want to use the software.

Again, I thank you and will continue to urge newcomers to try blender.
