Tuhopuu3 / Windows (2005/01/19)

Post by gabio » Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:48 am

Hello again. not too much stuff but I'm killing time tonight.
-----------------------------
Relevant feature:
-new ui stuff.
-Merge of Blender/cvs 2005/01/15
-bugfixes.
-Hos' Tweak mode thingy. Very experimental.
-Now the image windows is still smooth to move when zoomed in!
-By popular request: trying a darker background colour in the 3D View. Is this satisfactory? :)
-Brought the lamp Z axis lines as a themeable option
-Can now hold shift while clicking on a slider bar to have the old slider behaviour (+/- 0.1).

Commit:

Log:
Offering a lame alternative for the standard ultravivid toolbox.
Set preferred method in the userprefs->view & controls section.

Log Message:
Merge of Blender/cvs 2005/01/15

Log:
Post merge conflict resolution.

Log:
Added my cvs merge 'script' to cvs.

Log:
OK, looks like the merge didn't go as smoothly as I'd hoped.

Both the python menu thingy and the softbody panel thingy
were botched and wouldn't build ... these should be checked!

-theeth
Log:
Expanded on Hos' Tweak mode thingy. Very experimental.
When dragging with right mouse, releasing confirms (only way to cancel is with Esc).
When doing mouse gestures, releasing confirms (right mouse cancels are usual).

Added projection math for single axis constraints. Both this and the projection code for planar constraints act weird in perspective mode. Will have to involve the pers matrix to solve that, trying to figure out how.

-phase
Log:
Renamed the Lame Toolbox option to Easy Toolbox.
It sounded kinda... lame.

Log:
Minor tweak: changed the image window xof/yof from short to float, so view
translation is still smooth when zoomed in.

-broken
Log:
By popular request: trying a darker background colour in the 3D
View. Is this satisfactory? :)

Also fixed a little prob where tall thin buttons weren't
drawn properly.

-broken
Log:
* Brought the lamp Z axis lines as a themeable option as proposed
by efbie. It's controlled by the lamp theme colour, alpha affects
the line's transparency. Default is not fully opaque.

* Little colour tweaks

-broken
Log:
* Fixed invisible border select box due to theme in image window

* Made the border select lines dotted, keeping in line with Ton's
changes in the 3D View (which are are much better than before)

Brecht, if you'd like to commit this stuff:
http://users.pandora.be/blendix/solidedges.png

that would be a huge improvement too :)

-broken
Log:
* Can now hold shift while clicking on a slider bar to have the old
slider behaviour (+/- 0.1). Shift was chosen since it's used for
the 'precision' changing values on number fields

Log:
need this to get a nice MSVC6 scons build :)

A new build is available

I MUST SAY I DONT LIKE THIS DRAGGING METHOD!!!
I Like the Normal Dragging and Transform Method like in 2.36 Ofc. Build!
Tuhopuu is going in some Features Forward (Copy-Paste) (New Interface)and in some more Complicated and not easy to Work Features!!

Thanks for this Great Build!!!
I am a Tuhopuu Fan!

And I LOVE it! :D You c-a-n still use the old method, Poutsa. Just select and press G, like usual. Been waiting for this feature since I first started using Blender.

P-l-e-a-s-e let this into bf-blender:)

If there are color settings for the Lamp, what about color settings for any objecttype: Cameras, meshes, Lattice, Armatures, Curves, Surfaces etc.
Karamba!

I like the dragging method. imo, it should be left click drag like this, right click select and cancel

left click and "drag" is used for nothing useful imo (mouse gestures)

Or how about, left click and drag "does" the last transform method. So if I am doing lots of grabbing, I press G once, then it will remember I am wanting to grab. If I press R, next time I left click drag, it will rotate instead.

I suppose it all depends on how people work, I suppose this could become quite annoying.

Also, how about g/s/r keys switch between the modes, then drag does whichever mode you are in. Major change but it might be worth seeing how well it works

Love the grab and draggin in one go, maybe the cancellation can be a bit different, in my view right click should cancel instead of Escape (might otherwise be a bit confusing)

Glad the Lamp Z axis is back, can be quite handy at times

The darker background is much better!

Thank you very much for the builds Gabio

THE CLICK AND DRAG IS POSSIBLY THE BEST NEW FEATURE TO DATE.

I love this build, they just keep getting better!

edit: and the dragging works on verticies too! yay! i never used mouse gestures, but this I will definitely use.

edit2: selecting italian and switching on buttons crashed, missing GNU_GETTEX.dll iirc.

Get's better every time.

Really would it be that hard to add a new camera mode. I'm sick of the turntable to rotate on the z axis. It's a time waster.

I ask this on my knees.

The round-corner is an eye-candy, but takes the place of some characters, thus makes the characters smaller than old Blenders. In the new cvs build, almost everything is round polished, then all the chars get even more smaller, I can not read them easily on my small monitor. That is too bad. :(

And where is the "Panel Alignment"? I can not find it with LMB/MMB/RMB :?

For the panel alignment you have to RMB click on the title area of one of the windows within a panel.

As for the eye-candy, you can change that in the theme section of the pulldown header window. Go to: Themes > Add (have to do so to edit default theme) > UI & Buttons (to the right of Add button) > Drawtype (In menu below UI & Buttons).

The non-shaded rounded seems to be readable enough on small displays, with only a small sacrifice in eye-candy.

I don't see the difference, honestly. If there is, it's too sinsignificant for a reaction from me, at least.

I love this build, they just keep getting better!

If you make Complex Scenes and you must Click and Hold for every Object to move,Rotate,Scale, the Right Mouse Button you have Problem with your Finger after some Time!
And Gestures are very usefull for Fast Workflow!----------------------------------------------------------
How about the Bones in this Tuhopuu Build can you work with Armature or Edit Bones in this Build!!???? I AM NOT ..... also this Build is only a Demostration of sone new Features and not usefull for Work!!!
Maybe my PC has a Problem?

Ciao

I'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug:

The MMB normally works as an axis constraint when you grab. What behavior is it exhibiting here? It seems to be resetting the location of the object being moved whenever constrained & moves at very small increments.

As for the dragging behaviour.. I am conflicted. It seems a bit sloppier than as it is in the official build, but I think it may make moving vertices around more fluid.

I personally just RMB cancel out the dragging in the official build but I'm a slave to the G/S/R method. I'm willing to change my ways on this one though, it's just that it seems a bit awkward, as the RMB is largely used for cancelling some action in my workflow.

edit: The LMB gesture stuff is really cool, can't wait to see it polished up in an official build.
