Start of Summer Optimized Windows Pack

Post by mchs3d »

I have posted three "Start of Summer" builds on graphicall.org. Each one is optimized a lot, but two require certain CPU instruction set support to run faster. Please test the ones that can run on your computer.

Note: one build here requires your CPU to support SSE1 and another one requires SSE2. To find out if your processor supports SSE1 & 2, visit one of the following websites:

Processor: P4 HT 2,8GHz
Graphic Card: ATI RADEON 9200 128 DRR (RV280 5961)
RAM: 1,5 GB
Tested file: (Elephants Dream) 03_01.blend (no Proog textures loaded)
Tested Blender versions:
- SSE2 build
- Elephants Dream DVD CVS build
- jms 07-Jun-06 build

Test results:

SSE2 Time 11:56,76
- Missing items in 3D-Window & final render (cables at left)
- No layers render progress shown. Shows final scene render & filters
- Close Blender = crash.
- 1,1GB RAM used.

ED CVS Time undetermined
- All items are correct.
- Layers render progress shown.
- Crashes prior to end the rendering process.
- 1GB RAM used.

jms 7-Jun Time 22:28,50
- Missing items in 3D-Window & final render (cables at left)
- No layers render progress shown. Shows final scene render & filters
- Close Blender = crash.
- 990MB RAM used.

Your build is great :) but... missing items in latest builds are... well... not very good :?

Yes, I completely understand. Soon I will post optimized builds of the 2.41 release source, so you can have the stability of 2.41 with optimized speed.
