It's fully copyrighted.
The blender foundation owns it.
You may use it in a "made with <blender-logo>" sentence.
However there are strict rules to the usage (Only Xype seems to break these rules all the time  ).

1. No change of the colors orange/blue
2. No outlines, drop shadows, bevels, etc. unless you use the white jacket.
3. When using the white jacket then only with the correct blue blender text.
4. When using the icon, you cannot type blender behind it in another font.
( so no "made with <blender-icon> blender", although this site uses "[icon] about blender" in the header)

The official web link button is:

And another issue: you'll have a hard time finding an official eps of the logo. It's not available for download. Using it is not encouraged. And frankly: Making your own would be a bad idea.

Maybe the foundation could create an alphamasked "Made with [blenderlogo]" for people to scroll up the screen at the end(or show on screen in openingcredits), similar to the dolby logo that normally goes up right at the end of a movie. Maybe b&w and colour versions could be created.

It is an item on my long todo still, a web section with samples for how to apply logos best, sample files, logos with alpha, etc.

Now is release week, later!

If you got the converted .ai 2 .blend then you are in luck!

I got that file somewhere on my HD too (the logo blend file). I could upload it somewhere if people want it.

Looks like the theeth version is the 'official' one.
I think it's the one I made at nan.

When using on black (or dark) use the white jacket.
On white (or light areas) don't use the jacket.

If using only the icon, then never use the jacket.
Don't change the colors and don't add internal bevels etc.
The outside is pretty much free. Drop shadows, outside bevels & glows are not preverable, but "legal".

the TM seems a bit silly to me nowadays. I don't see it anywhere on this website nor on b3d. It's very ugly anyway.

You can look on these sites how the logo is used (although I think the "about blender" icon is the wrong logo) .

And maybe Ton can find time to make a design manual, I think he should put his time in more important stuff ;)

I made this logo intro meant to be used in my future game releases. It runs longer than I think is actually necessary.. but hey.. Think about our friend SEGA, and allllll the different variations on the sega logo popped up when the genesis was out. Back then, as long as it ended up looking like the real logo, everything was kosher. So I don't see this rule as a bad thing, but what I am going to do is label my games with intros like this one, because I love blender like a drug. Keep rockin' on people. btw, you're welcome to use this -- and modify it.
