Don't know how relevant this is but here is a curious coincidence about the date:

Sidebar: Absolute Time The use of 12.00 midnight, GMT, January 1st, 1970, as a starting point for measuring absolute time is an obscure artifact of computer history. This date is rumoured to be the birth date of the UNIX operating system developed by AT&T Bell Labs in the early 1970's. The later widespread use of UNIX on laboratory and departmental computers perpetuated the use of this same date as the starting point for time measurement. Most of today's computers now use this date for the stating time for time measurement on their internal clocks. VRML's use of the same starting time is an artifact of this widespread operating system convention.

(Quoted from 'VRML 2.0 Sourcebook')

Probably has nothing to do with it, but at least everyone who reads this will have slightly more useless information in their heads than before.

Yeah, of course, the date is not a mistery: it is just "0" in the "unix timestamp" field 8)

To answer the question,

I'm guessing they are users that were migrated from the older
website and no longer are involved. Or just very quiet. ;)
