3d animation using x,y,z coordinates in a file

Hi all
I am new to Blender.
I have a file of 3d - x,y,z coordinates. There are 40000 coordinates. The coordinates were sampled at a frequency of 1000HZ giving a total of 40 seconds in movement. The coordinates are of knee movement.
Is it possible in Blender to use these coordinates to construct a 3d animation of a persons knee movement? Even a ball trajectory using these coordinates would be fantastic.
If so - any pointers on exiting source code or tutorials to help me along?
Thank you in advance
David
