You downloaded the program...than you're good to go! Maybe get the manual with it (http://download.blender.org/documentati ... /TOC2.html) and start Blednering. For the more experienced user there's the game-engine to play around with (version 2.25) and python scripts for additional services! Just surf around the web (www.elysiun.com) and follow the links and tutorials there...before you know it, you're a star with Blender!!!

did this sound very Blender-promotional or what???

that's just the console windows in which messages are printed, blender prints a lot of information there, for programmers and users alike, 99.9% of the time you would not need to look at it so dont worry about it :)

Enjoy blender

No just keep the one you have, maybe you would like to download Yafray for later use. A link to where you can download yafray is present on the download page at http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Blender.31.0.html.

Good luck with your 3d animation, it rocks when you make your first real short movie.

This is a common problem, one I just discovered and worked through myself. When you do a boolean operation, you select one object, then the next, and hit W. Click on your choice for the operation. ***This operation creates a NEW object. *** The two original objects are still selected, and the new object is not. You can then move those objects to a new location, or you can hit the DELETE key to remove them. What you are left with is the boolean object.

Hope this helps!

I'm just a beginner but I ran into the exact same problem and if you follow statik's instructions it should work fine.
