Games cannot be played (2.66a)

The forums here are for Blender development. Questions and discussion about *using* Blender belong on blenderartists.org If your thread was moved here, you are probably in the wrong place.

Games cannot be played (2.66a)

Post by confuciousdragon »

When the play button is clicked in the game logic layout, the console produces an error claiming that it cannot find tmp\\0001.png.

This occurs repeatedly on a fresh install of 2.66a (both 64 bit and 32 bit) across two machines. Both are Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Machine A:
ATI Radeon 5450

Machine B:
Nvidia 260 GTX

A has 8 gb ram and B has 4. Exact model is unknown.

I don't see how this should be posted to blenderartists.org. This is a component that is packaged with the latest release of blender and is not working due to a technical issue of some sort. I am not seeking a special use of blender, nor am I asking something that is skill related.

There is something weird about your setup. That file path looks broken.

It appears that it was simple user error - I had the render settings to Blender Render instead of Blender Game. Changing this value allows the game to be played.
