Copy animations to an existing armature

Post by beamrider1 »

If this is the wrong form for this I'll be glad to retry a better fit.

Objective: import a figure from MakeHuman, animate it with .bvh files, add other details in Blender, and export it to the Unreal Engine UDK.

Accomplished: Created a simple animated textured set of cubes in Blender and exported it to the UDK. Now I need to move up from cubes to an animated skinned character.

Current status: I have a character with a simple armature that has no animations linked to the mesh that is a good start. I also have a running animation from a bvh file whose bone names and structure match the armature except for additional details in the armature hands. If I import the bvh file I can see it's armature running as intended.

Next steps: Is there any way I can copy the animation, say from the data in the dope sheet, and attach it to the armature in the character?

Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.

you may look here: http://www.blendernation.com/2011/04/25 ... ender-2-5/

anyway - importing bvh to an existing mesh/bonestructure can be a pain.

The idea of using Actions let me here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb152Qncn2s which should provide all the details I need.

Thanks for the pointer, that was exactly what I was looking for.
