Alt+S and Neal Hirsig's Bugle Tutorial

Hi:

I cannot seem to get the Alt+S function to work for me when modeling using a bezier curve with a bezier circle added as a bevel object.
Nothing happens when I attempt to utilize this function.

Any ideas?
