Blender 2.49b not displaying correctly. HELP

So I am trying to use Blender to start 3d modelling. I wanted to create simple weapons and such as practice and I thought it would be cool to use them in Skyrim. The newest version of blender works perfectly fine on my computer. But 2.49b, which as far as I know is the only one that can import/generate .nif files for skyrim, does not work. It starts up and I get the first picture. The second picture is to show when I move my mouse around a few things pop in. The third is to show cmd giving me a successful boot.

What did I do wrong, or how do I fix it? I have python and nifscripts and nifskope. I have tried starting the program as an admin, running it with different service packs instead, reducing to 8bit colors, etc.
