Connect bvh armature with a character model

Dear all:

I met some problems when I tried to connect a bvh armature with a downloaded character model (i.e. from blendswap). I found certain parts of the model didn't move together with the body. For example the eyes are separated.

When I connect the armature with the model, I use CTRL+P to choose Armature deform with automatic weights. Should I paint the weight manually?

I would really appreciate it if you have any suggestions about this problem. Or any suggestions/addons to connect a 3D model with bvh data?

P.S. I am totally new to blender, what I want is a simple way to drive the downloaded character model with bvh data. I followed the tutorial here: ... jpjx1e.jpg ... g5qag3.jpg
