Exporting to .3ds problems

Post by e-cobra »

Hi, I've now tried to use blender to make car model for a game. As blender cannot directly export to the format of the game, I have to export the model as .3ds and import that .3ds in another modelling program called Zmodeler.
Anyway, here are a few problems: All vertices are separate in the exported model. Due to this I cannot get smooth shading in the game and also it will crash probably due to rendering too many vertices. How do I have vertices of faces connected to each other as a single vertex?

In Zmodeler:

And faces of some things like the headlight are inverted inside. Is there a way to make one sided faces in blender?
If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
