Spiro Splines : Seeking A Mentor

Post by bmud » Mon Jun 21, 2010 10:01 pm

Hi all. I'm hoping to get my hands dirty with Blender source this summer so I can start adding features. I've had experience working with C++, Processing (similar to Java) and python.

In order to get in to the actual thinking parts of coding, I'm looking for someone who will be a mentor so I can get past the basics. Ideally you might be interested in one of the features I'm hoping to add one day...

1. Spiro Curves ( http://www.levien.com/phd/thesis.pdf ) which I think will be good for this summer if my learning is quick or the winter if my learning is not so quick.

Thus far I've had a lot of trouble getting over the barriers of understanding how to optimize the experience of coding for Blender so that it feels comfortable.

So help is appreciated. And hopefully this works out -- asking for help so I can help myself instead of just whining about how I want a feature to be coded for me. :)

Lots of juicy stuff under the Development tab at the top of this page.

For interactive questions, #blendercoders on freenode is a good resource.
