Git Mirror?

The slowness of Subversion is getting me down. Has anybody done a Git mirror of the Blender source tree? Otherwise I might do one and put it on GitHub or something.

OK, I have put together pure, crap-free mirrors here

https://github.com/ldo/blender-addons

I’m still working out a procedure for keeping them up-to-date.

Mirrors on gitorious

I created in April, 2010 http://gitorious.org/blenderprojects to host mirrors. I noticed that for some reason bf-extensions is not updating properly, the others are updated very frequently (ie. blender repository every 5 minutes, fullblender IIRC as well).

Nice, JesterKing. At least yours are crap-free. 8)

bf-extensions seems to have lower activity on it—only one update on Thursday (UTC), two on Wednesday, none on Tuesday, while a whole bunch came through on Friday. Is that what you’ve been seeing?

Nah, I meant I forgot to reinstate (apparently) the syncing of the repository since August 2010. But that's fixed now. Both bf-blender and bf-extensions are being checked and updated every 5 minutes.

A note for anyone starting out using this mirror: When subversion grabs the repository, it also partially checks out a version of the extensions repository into blender/release/scripts/addons, so you will need to do this manually, otherwise the addons window doesn't work at all. Assuming that you check out the extensions repository into the same level as blender/ and lib/, you need to move the files:

Code: Select all

cp -r extensions/trunk/py/scripts/addons blender/release/scripts/
The extensions repository is also mirrored at the same gitorious project;
http://gitorious.org/blenderprojects

The one other difference I've found is that the version number on the splash screen doesn't work, but this would require pulling out the svn number from the git logs and I haven't done that yet.

(sorry for the slight necro-bump, but this is the thread google directed me to for a git version of blender, and this issue confused me for a few days.[/code]
