Compiling Tuhopuu (Game Engine) on VC6

Post by peterw » Thu Feb 19, 2004 7:50 am

I've been trying to get a working build of the work that Kestor has been on the Game Engine. Everything seems to fine untill I hit "P", when I get a "Access Violation" in Kernal32.DLL and crash and no further info.
I think I saw somewhere recently someone else with a similar problem.

It's bound to be a VC6 setting somewhere as I see Hos got a clean compile earlier, but my c skills are very primative that I'm not to sure where to go next.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hmm, I got the same kind of problem with a build with MSVC7 - so there is more too it. :/ Only diff is, that I tried Kester's gameengine in BF-Blender.

Tomorrow I have a holiday, so I can finally look into it better - build with debug info, etc. (Btw, I committed a sconstruct that now supports debug info for msvc). If you could also try building a debug binary, and see if you can catch a backtrace, or so...

seems to be a problem when linking to solid.
when i build a static solid.lib with msvc 6 it does not even link,
when i build a solid.dll it links but crashes as yours.

when i do a standard cygwin gcc build (nan build system) everything is fine, but i think it does not link to solid at all.

if feel there is something wrong in the project files either in solid/qhull or in blender.
Hos was talking to Kester about that on tuhopuu-devel mailing list.

No solution yet, i think.

or jesterKing may be the MSVC7 projects in solid may build a linkable static solid.lib?

I use the prebuilt solid library from the lib/windows CVS module. Hos built it, and according the commit log it was built with MSVC6 - the dll.

I have to confess that I've never gotten this to
run either without segfaulting. The only reason I
committed it is so that the project files would have
something to link to. Maybe I'll try my hand at
creating a new project for it (when I have some free
time).

The gcc-windows build does run with solid though.
