Hi,
Today i got a "Too many Open Files" error and consecuent blender crash while rendering an Animation using 2.41(standard) on a Dual g5, Tiger 10.4.3 machine(just 170 frames) and using Yafray as Render Engine(Plug-in, not XML). OSX default max open Files Limit is 256, so i rised it system wide. But, what i don't understand is why Blender keeps opening files during render. I started rendering again from frame 101 and
lsof |grep processnumber | wc -l
list 135 files!!!
So, each new frame opens 1 or more files. So don´t even thinking of rendering a minute movie!.
OSX handles openfiles different than other operating systems but i think blender should not keep every frame open after render. So in my modest opinion there is something wrong about file/memory handling
Any ideas? Could this be a bug?
Thanks
Diego

Hi Ryz,
Yes, it´s separate PNG files, but has more with the plug-in - blender conection than with the output format. I tried using the same output, same animation but with XML checked (so calling yafrays binary direct) and i never get more than 86 files simultaneously open, so no problem with this.
By the way(and off-topic), i would love using EXR output format directly from Blender but the "Orange" binaries i got don´t even take yafray in account and i simply dont´manage to compile blender on Tiger(never had this problem on Panther).
