Locking viewport view

Hello everyone, I've started to seriously learn Blender and I wanted to know if there is a way to lock the views when the window is split between top, side, front and perspective. It's pretty annoying when an orthogonal view gets screwed up if I mistakenly use the mouse to change the camera's view.

Do you mean disable middle mouse in 3d window?
I think that's a good idea.

Well not just the middle mouse button in 3d. Let's say you have your blender window split into four different views (front, side, top, and perspective). If you were to go into the front, side, or top view and use the middle mouse button you would lose the 2d perspective. What I wish was available is a way to restrict the 2d view to only their respective 2d orientations (i.e. the top view would always look from the top regardless of what I do).

As a kind of workaround, you can change the middle mouse button to Pan rather than rotate, that way if you click it accidentally, it won't kick you out of the ortho view.

I'd also be very grateful for an option to restrict the ortho views.
But that's because I use Maya for my day job. Maybe I should just adapt!
