Mousewheel Can't Zoom in, vista, 2.43

Post by DoomTroopa » Tue Mar 20, 2007 4:40 am

Hi i just installed 2.43 on windows vista, seems to all run fine except that my mouse wheel only goes in one direction regardless of which way i roll it,
the direction it goes is zoom out,
this also means i can only move in one direction if i hold shift or ctrl.
is there a button that moves you left, right and up, down so i can work around this, atm it makes it kinda difficult

Same thing here

Hi,

Unfortunately I can not help, but I have the exact same problem.
I use blender 2.43 on Vista Home Premium with a MS Wireless Laser 8000
and the wheel does not work as usual.
When using a Logitech MX 1000 everything is fine, same with a MS IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0

Microsoft told me it must be an issue with the hardware and they are going to send me a new mouse eventhough the mouse wheel works perfectly in all other apps I tried.

Maybe there is something I can do to support fixing this in case it is an issue in blender?

Cheers,

Jan

Hey,

Maybe I found somethig.
Here: http://projects.blender.org/tracker/?gr ... l&aid=1901
someone describes the same issue.
He said it was a misconfiguration.

Hope that helps. I can't try because I had to return the mouse....

My microsoft wireless laser mouse has the same problem with Blender on Window Vista. The suggestion at the above website does not fix the problem. The mouse wheel can only be assigned to zoom in one direction only. The same mouse works fine with Blender under window XP. Also, the mouse works fine with all other app that I have on window Vista. So, it must be a driver bug that is revealed by Blender.

This seems to be a problem to do with java, I have the same problem in MatLab,

There is a java bug report about this issue

I too have this problem!

I'm using the same version of Blender that I ran under XP, and I've also tried several different mice (mouses? meeses?) and have exactly the same problem!

Each mouse has its own driver, so I can't be sure it's a driver issue...very frustrating to say the least!

Hi!

I found a workaround which might be of interest for you ... inside windows device manager, go to "Mice and other Pointing Devices" and replace the MS Intellipoint mouse driver by HID-conform mouse driver.

Hope this helps/works for you.
