3dconnexion device - getting it to work?

Post by rickbsgu »

Machine: Intel Macbook, core 2 duo
OS: OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Blender version: 2.49b (latest download from site)
Device: 3DConnexion 'Space Navigator for Notebooks'
----------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Trying to get my 3DConnexion device working w/ Blender - so far, no go.

I installed Google Earth, just to make sure the driver/device work - that seems to be fine. Now, I'm trying to get it to work in Blender.

I've looked at other threads on this topic and they seemed to indicate support for this was (or would be) on the mainstream build? I've tried going to 3DConnexion's site to download the plugin, but can't find it. The reference goes to a dead page.

So, what's the status of this?

Any enlightenment appreciated.

Thanks,
rickb

Blender + SpaceNavigator

Hi Rick,

John from 3Dconnexion here.

Have you installed the blender plug-in? You can grab it from this page: http://www.3dconnexion.com/index.php?id=108

Let me know if it helps.

Thanks for the link!!

The link I found navigating the 3dConnexion site went to a non-existent page. I see this one is good.

FWIW, I did get this to work on a linux box - now the issue is I'm frankly not sure it gives enough advantage to be useful.

But, always like to try things...

thanks, again,
rickb

I'm having similar issues with my space navigator, using OSX 10.6.3 on an intel mac.

I have the latest driver as well as blender version (2.49b) installed.

I have installed the blender plugin:
Image which came from the 'i386' folder in the download folder linked in a previous post in this topic.

But when I open blender I just see this:

And I know I should be seeing an extra button like here: Image
(taken from a video tutorial discussing the space navigator in blender)

How do I get that button to show and how do I make blender recognize my space navigator?
