Incosistances in the direction of view in viewports.

Post by tarmer »

Hi All,

I was wondering why the view directions in the viewports appear to be of mixed references.

The front, back, top, and bottom views appear to be the actual objects front, back, top, and bottom thus they are referenced to the object. However, the right view direction shows the left side of the object and the left view shows the objects right side, thus they seem to be referenced from the viewer's left and right not the objects.

It may be that the view from the viewers perspective is that the object is rotated along the Z axis 90degs to the right for the right view and 90degs to the left for the left view. If this is the case you still end up showing the opposite side of the object relative to the viewport direction.

Any Ideas as to why this is the case? Shouldn't the view of the object be consistent in all six view directions?

As a final thought in drafting all six views are referenced to the object not the viewer, e.g. the front view is the objects front, right view is the objects right side, etc..

The universe works on nuclear power, get with the act.
