Problem running Blender on Windows Vista 64bit

Post by Theophilus »

I just downloaded blender for windows vista 64 bit (Double checked, that is my operating system). I extracted it to the desktop, and tried running it, but after executing the blender.exe file, I get this error:

[Window Title]
C:\Users\Jeff Smith\Desktop\Blender\blender.exe

[Content]
C:\Users\Jeff Smith\Desktop\Blender\blender.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

[OK]

Could anyone please tell me what I missed?

Thanks. I look forward to using Blender as soon as possible.

EDIT: I have an update: I tried running as an admin, but to no use. Also, I don't have OpenGL- is that the problem?

Blender's Gui relies on OpenGl. If your setup doesn't support it that would be a huge problem.
