Edgeloop in blender

Post by iris » Fri Aug 22, 2003 9:38 am

Hi guys

I hope I am posting in the right forum. I have been using blender for some time and infact completed my first movie of 51 min a couple of weeks ago.:P

I was reading about edgelooping. Is there any possibility of this being available in blender in the future!

Thanks

You mean edge-selecting tools, right? (that would indeed be neato)...I mean, what's preventing you from making edge-loops now? :D

I think he means the ability to automatically select an edgeloop or edgering, and perhaps the ability to add in a loop without having to manually remove a huge amount of tris (maybe just a few)

Slikdigit: I actually meant "edgeloop-selecting" tools...sometimes head is faster than my fingers when typing. :)

This feature is one of the features I use the most in Wings.

edgeloops

Post by iris » Fri Aug 22, 2003 6:13 pm

I meant as a feature to prevent the ugly craking of mesh.

Say suppose you make a tower and then create a few circular edgeloops along the shaft and say three or four vertical egde loops then it should prevent buckling of mesh. That is if I have understood the whole concept of edgelooping properly.

If I am way off please tell me.

cheers

edgeloop selecting would indeed be a nice feature, but what would be nicer is the ability to add adges in to your selecting; a bevel edge function for instance, or the ability to draw a new edgeloop in ala softimage, or to connect edges, triangulating only when neccessary.
I have a feeling from previous discussions that this would be difficult with the current mesh structure. In any case, edge loop selection would be nice.

Strubi's Shmender already has edge selection, face selection and loop selection.

That's edge RING selection, not LOOP selection.
still really cool, infact, more useful.
needed for loop cuts.

COOLAROOO!
