I'm new to Blender so I'm working my way through some tutorials.
If I have 4 verts. selected in Edit Mode, then press the F key, a face is created... this works repeatedly OK.
If I have more than 4 verts. selected... say 6 or 8, when I press the F key... nothing happens. No faces, no errors, nothing.
According to the Blender manual, if 5 or more verts. are selected, a Make Faces popup menu should be displayed where other options are shown.
This menu does not appear either.
Any help on how to get the F key to work with more than 4 verts. selected?
Thanks!
F Key does not work properly

What i'm testing for is the speed at which I can scrub through the timeline in my scene. It's quite a sizable scene but nothing special, Blender 2.49 has no problems with it.
I played with the drawing modes, only "full" gave a significant difference for the worse
The sceen rotates zooms and pans just fine, but the scrubbing is slow.

I could be wrong, but I believe that functionality does not exist in the current version....yet.thornti wrote:I understand that there are changes in new versions...
I guess what I'm asking is what IS the correct shortcut key sequence to create faces when more than 4 verts. are selected?
Correction: it is Alt-F to 'Fill' a selection of >4 verts.

I'm using the latest v2.59
I have tried ALT-F when >4 verts are selected and I get no response at all.
If I select 4 verts, and press the F key... the face appears AOK!
Shift-F causes the camera to float.
I just tried the following...
Start with the default cube.
Select 4 verts and 'Extrude Individual'
Left Click to accept
'Extrude Individual' again.
Left Click to accept.
Select any 4 new verts, press 'F' and a face is created.
Select any >4 verts... press Alt-F and nothing!
Ctrl-F produces a menu... but none of the create faces options work either.
Is this a bug in 2.59?

I dont think Alt-F will create new faces where faces already exist.
Take that same extruded form you had, and remove three of the faces down one side. Then select all of the verts around the hole you just made and Alt-F. Iit should fill in the hole you made.
Or add an open ended cylinder, then select all of the verts on one end and Alt-F. It should cap the end.
