Feature request: local view uses local axis

Post by adrian » Tue Sep 16, 2003 5:41 pm

A suggestion: When in "local view" - could the objects local axis' be used as reference (for mesh, curve, armature etc).
This would enable one to easily edit the object in local plan/side/front view without having to rotate it square to the global axis' then re-rotate it back to fit the scene.
Any comments?

Hey,

I also find the '*' key in numpad quite useful. It makes the current view perpendicular to the z axis of the object, so selecting vertices, etc. becomes easier.

Although you can use the * (number pad star) key to get an "ortho oject view" in "Local view". The controls for extrude/scale/mirror (middle mouse) still use the global co-ordinates. Whilst with a mesh you can e/cancel/alt s to extrude perpendicular to face with a mesh, you can't with a curve. Editing tubular steel for example ( a 3D curve with bevel object ) proves most inconvenient. I still think that to have the facility to edit an object in local view which uses independant "local view" co-ordinates and axis' would be very useful.
If this facility is already implemented in tuhopuu2 and or BF2 please excuse me and let me know how to?
Any comments.
