Need help splitting a square diagonally in half.

Post by Jedijds »

Is it possible to connect two vertices together with a line instead of merging them together? I want to split a plain in to two triangles but I can’t figure out if I can take the vertices on opposite ends and connect them without moving them. Is that possible? Just had a project and being able to cut a square diagonally in half between the vertices would be help full.

Try this. Take the default cube, go into edit mode.
Select say the top face. hit x and select delete faces.
Then select 3 of the verts, (shift right click)
then use f to fill it. Then select the other tryangle you want and fill it.

One note, if your verts are not part of another face they will get removed.
(if you tried to do it on a plane they would all get nuked.)

Thanks, it works and that is just what I wanted. :)

Oh and when I was messing around with it I found that if I just click on the two diagonal vertices and then press ’f’ it does the same thing, thanks you so much! :D :D

Never mind about the second part, it sometimes works but not for everything. The cube already as an invisible line in it and when I tested making the cut on cube I made it over the line. My mistake, sorry.
Would it be possible to make a tool to cut a plane only between selected vertices? Or is there one already made?
