Incorrect deformation of mesh by armature

Post by iris » Wed Oct 29, 2003 8:03 am

hi folks

I hope I am asking the question in right forum.

I made a model of a boy and put armature to it. Now when I try
to use the armature to bend the mesh it not only bends but also
changes the size of mesh hence deforming it beyond the expected
level.

I put the model at
http://www.skodela.btinternet.co.uk/models/boy.blend

could anyone with a wee bit of time have a look at it and tell me where
I am going wrong please!

Many thanks

It's because your vertex weight groups are not set-up correctly. In your file, remove the arms from the 'chest' vertex group. Use Weight-paint mode to see which vertices are part of which group and by how much.

Also, Please ask using Blender related questions on Elysiun: http://www.elysiun.com/forum/index.php
