Need help with blender workspace

Post by lastofakind » Wed Aug 15, 2012 4:19 am

First of all, let me tell you guys Im new to blender.

Is it possible to change the workspace from 2.63a to 2.46?

The older UI looks so much cleaner and to me, easier to use and less cluttered.

You can rearrange, resize, and eliminate the various window areas and then reorient them for horizontal layout. But the sub-catagories within those zones will still be the same.

yep the main thing you want to do is set the properties window along the bottom (i'm assuming you've learned enough to know how to customize the blender UI ?)

and then right click in it and choose horizontal.
that'll switch it to the old style.

I don['t think it works EXACTLY like it used to but pretty close.

good luck

“Less cluttered”—you’re kidding, right? The old “Buttons Window” was a hodgepodge accumulation of random functionality accreted over the years, with no clear organization to it. Could you remember which of two different places to look for any particular texture setting?

No, the new Properties Window is a much cleaner arrangement. And it works better vertically than horizontally. Get used to it!
