Extrude along path or line, like in the tree script, but with different features add to it. Like bevel, pivet, tweek, scale, rotation, etc, etc. Alot like what's in 3d studio. Let me see if I can find a related site.

use the bevel function for this in most cases.

Bevel is sort of limited to this idea, it's extruding along line with other function with it I'm talking about.

I do pretty much all of that with dupliframes, a path and animated NURBS sections.

Yes I know that method, but I really think it could win over other users if it has something they reconize. If not in blender, what about a python script with GUI then ?

But I didn't know it was a nurbs funtion, all this time I thought it had to do with the wroung spacing or I had to connect the vertex with the face command.
