Feature Request- New selection tools

Post by RipSting »

I have a complexly dense object that I need to select some verts from the center of. Right now I'm limited in my methods of doing this- either select the verts one by one, or box-select and hide the verts on the outside (drilling my way towards the center basically). Here are my ideas-

3D selection shapes
In addition to Box select and circle-select, add cube and sphere selects. You would simply place your 3D cursor in the middle of the mass of verts that you want to select, and then resize the shape until it encompases the desired verts.
You would need to be able to change perspectives while you make adjustments to the selection shapes.

Limited neighbor finding
Basically like the L-Key (which selects all adjoining verts), but it only finds the "next-door" neighbors, and then stops. So I'd just select the vert in the middle and run this command a few times so that my selection "grows" outwards.

I'm not sure if this type of functionality is offered in any other 3D modeling program. They would definitly be useful features though.

Very cool, it's exactly what I wanted for the 'Limited neighbor finding'!

However, the 3D selection shapes still stands...
