I have written code that bakes Radiosity back into an image, though its not all in one nice GUI-

From tests I did the problem is that the edges of the radiosity cause ailiasing allong the edges of the faces- This could be fixed- so it IS possible now. :)

My proposal is growing, while creating realtime3D runtimes i missed support for MP3 or Ogg Vorbis, so added these (with some links) to my feature proposal:

uhm,

1.more slots/nodes for the textures/procedurals
2.softbodies :D
3.ramp shader as procedural/texture/map to use it in specific areas and not only for the whole material (its important for reflection/refraction)

5. to combine complete materials with nice fading or blending (e.g. to use vertex paint/procedural/texture as "blending map" between the materials)

Updated my feature proposal again, chapter "Missing Behaviors for weighted Subsurf" is now "Uniform transform action (Weighted SubSurf, Bevel, Warp)".
Found more missing features in other transformations actions too.
