Hi!
It's getting better and better, ain't it? However, I thought of some neato ideas that would make at least me joyous if implemented:)
1. We currently have the option to merge at center or at cursor(I think?), but a neat addition would be to merge, for example, first selected onto second selected. A bit like target weld in MAX, but lacking the interactivity, of course. Hey, it would be a start.
2. Would it be possible to include object-based viewmodes? So that One object could be flat-shaded, another wire-shaded etc. Ex. I could make an instance of an object, work on the original copy and view changes on the instanced copy clean-shaded(no edges superimposed). Call it an over-ride if you will. Sometimes the wire feels like it's in the way, and this would make things easier. I've suggested something similar before, I know:/ I just won't give up on this:P

There's no such thing as democracy. There's only the tyranny of one, and the tyranny of many.
1: You know you can merge at the 3D cursor position right?
2:Already possible. Look in Object buttons under 'Draw'.

There already was a vertex snap tool that worked really well in tuhopuu (and in BF for a REALLY short time). It worked very well but was yanked because "we are going to do a mesh code rewrite" . I can never understand this mentality. Why can't we keep the temporary solution until the permantent one becomes available instead of having to suffer without the any solution at all? Ehh. Anyway, maybe someone will read this and put the snap back in?
Here's hoping,

Yes and I can cut my grass with a pair of scissors too. The point is there's nothing wrong with making the workflow quicker/shorter (especially when "stitching" many such pairs of verts).ztonzy wrote:Shift+RMB-select Vert #1 --> Shift+S --> Cursor to Selection --> Shift+RMB-select Vert #2 ---> Alt+M ---> Merge at Cursor... Perhaps even a "stitch" mode where all you have to do is select verts and the merging happens as you make your selections.
I quote myself: "We currently have the option to merge at center or at cursor". So yes1: You know you can merge at the 3D cursor position right?

Don't know if that'll work they way I intend in editmode, but I'll look into it. Like everyone else I could've missed something, and none would be happier than me in this case2:Already possible. Look in Object buttons under 'Draw'.

edit: Nope. As I suspected, there's always a cage superimposed on the duplicate, no matter what the settings for object are.

if you like fast workflow...try this one:FourMadMen wrote:Yes and I can cut my grass with a pair of scissors too. in editmode...select couple of vertices...and hit NumPad+commakey (dotkey on english/us keyboards) and in an instant the selected vertices are centered(same as objectmode)....but, this with vertices wasn't there before I suggested it, and this have been in Blender since autumn last year(2003), I got help from Goofster, my suggestion and he coded it

even some powerusers of Blender, haven't known this

I am sorry if you thought I meant a vertex-merge feature, I meant as a fast workflow example, it is a selection/centre feature...FourMadMen wrote:Fast? Perhaps except for two things:
1) It doesn't work (at least not on my keyboard) and 2) It doesn't address the issue of mergine the second vertex to the position of the first (again that assumes the hotkey worked in 2.34 -- which it doesn't seem to).
and what kind of keyboard do you have?
