A new primitive

Post by malCanDo »

We have monkey as a primitive.

What about having a logo promitive, depicting the Blender logo?

If people are making scenes, and the logo is easy to create and place, I'm sure it'll turn up in some very interesting places in the final renders :)

well spoted. yes that's totaly right! maybe as a curve with ext1,2 set, so you'd have a mesh-primitive (suzanne) and a curve-primitive (blender-logo)

that sounds cool, but it could easily turn into a very sticky mess when you start trying to sort out copyright issues with the logo :P

well...I am not sure about that, (Blenders) logo/s isn't something use in any way, they (logos) mostly have some rules on how to be used or not...so it isn't that simple !

In general; adding a fixed shape to the menu is not such a good idea.
The monkey is already over the edge in my opinion. But that's what you get if employees have to work for no pay, they fool around.

But,... why not something like the python scripts thingy?
Hava a directory with the name: models. And all the blend files in that directory will show up in a menu, then from that file you can select any part of that file, the object, or the materials, or,...
wait a minute...

In specific; logo's should be untouched. And they should follow style guides. Adding it as an object in blender will lead to many deformations to the logo which, in my opinion, is a bad thing. But maybe the foundation (Ton specialy) feels different about that. In some post he was saying he was going to make a style guide so people can add "made with blender" tags.

Yes, stylesheet and logo use guidelines and templates is high on my todo list. Adding it at primitive? Noway! :)

How about an option in the render buttons to add a discreet "made with blender". Even better, how about letting users enter their names, would save loading up the gimp :)

I can see how this could be handy. Specialy for BAF submissions.
But I see no real reason to hard code this.
Blender has an excellent sequence editor where plug-ins of these type work like a charm. Also, a .blend file with a template works just fine.
With the additional advantage it can be changed to any event.
