Request: target weld

Post by Rahu »

I request a target weld feature similar to that in Max. The user would select one or more verticies, then the target weld option, then the target vertex.

Pretty much all the first selected verticies would move to the same spot at the target vertex, and then they would all be welded. As far as I know the only way to do this now is by manually move verticies to the target point and then weld.

To work it into the GUI I think it would work good as part of the merge menu(alt+m) below "at center" and "at cursor"

Feedback on what everyone here thinks about it is appreciated.

Try this, maybe it will get you where you are going.

Tab to edit mode,
select the target vertice, the one where you want everything to end up,
Shift-S snap the cursor to slelction,
[edit] (missed a step sorry.) select the vertices you want to merge, [/edit]
W 4 , or W Merge,
merge At cursor.

Is that what you were driving at? If not, perhaps you could elaborate? You mention alt-m where it says "at cursor." Not too sure what you are saying.

Yes, that's what i was talking about. I was just suggesting to add this to the merge menu as one function. But i didn't know about shift+s, thats pretty helpful :D
