Constrain transform tools on 2 axis

Post by mongrol »

Hi folks,

Not sure if this has been discussed or considered before. What I think would be beneficial is if the Move, Rotate and Scale tools had the ability to constrain onto 2 axis at the same time. At present if I need to move a point "diagonally" I press G, I can then constrain only 1 axis, move and set the point, then G again constrain on a 2nd axis etc.. If I could toggle on constraints on axis during the same transform I could move my selected vertex fully in 2 degrees and set it in 1 move. This would also allow much more freedom and control for those who prefer modelling in the 3d view mode.

How would it be implemented?

At present toggling constraints toggles between off, global, local. Coloured lines appear when each mode is on. Visually there isn't anything stopping multiple constraints being toggled on at the same time. Would there be a problem programmatically?

It is implemented in the new transform recode you might want to do a search before posting a request.
