Physic engine: can be used to place objects?

Post by alelink »

hello to all,
can the blender's physic engine be used to place objects?
For example , if I have a wall made by some bricks, can I hit
them with a "cannon ball" and save the final position?

thanks

Sounds like a nice idea. There might be a python script somewhere...

The game engine can be used to calculate dynamics.

It's pretty much a complete different part of blender, best treated as if you where using another software package.
I know there are scripts to save bvh data out of the game engine driven moving objects and there are scripts to read bvh data into render engine blender IPO's. This is pretty much a "I know something" [Absolutely fabulous] remark I know, but with guitargeek script you should get a long way.

Alas the pythons of game engine and render engine are not very intergrated. Or it's a shame that the dynamics are restricted to the game engine. Surely it can't be to hard to write a patch that saves the path of a game engine object into an blender IPO that can be used by the render blender?

The next step is to integrate IPO creation to save the entire motion to an IPO. But I'm not sure when I will get to that :?
