Suggestion: 3DS and/or LWO texture importing

I have done some importing in both of these formats, but they never import textures. Is this just to hard of a thing to do, or does no one have the time to do the coding or access to the information? One of these days I'll learn how to do coding for blender.

textures arnt stored inside the files afaik, they are seperate jpg, png, tga etc. in the same directory. so you just have to copy the texture to where your working from, and load it like you normaly do in blender.

if your talking about texture coordinates, i dont use any other program, so im not sure if they import UV data.

umm.... last i checked the uv import on most plugins don't work right... it's the uv data that doesn't work right.

UV Data is very important- My OBJ exporter and importer support texture mats as well as ngons (import only).

If somebody has the time, adding texture mapping support to other standard formats would be valuble. since the exporters /importers are incompleate until they support mapping which is widly used now,

Not all materials/textured are applied with UV texture mapping.
Some software uses projection objects to map textures on the 3d objects.
These are not imported (I think).
As far as I know most python scripts don't create blender materials for imported material groups and they don't create texture links to images in any directory.

It's could be very difficult to get this to work, as many exporters don't even save the material data.
