Bevel rewrite ideas (pdf doc)

Post by Pierre-Luc_Auclair »

I've written a small doc about my ideas on what I think should be in a new bevel function (given that it will be changed because it really needs it, reasons inside).

http://heliosmulti.com/files/bevel_edge ... vectxt.pdf

I'd like to have your comments on this, thanks.

Very clearly explained and a very good idea.

would 1 subdivision bevel of more than 4 edges meeting at some vertex result in a more than 4 sided face?

also, what would you do at edges which you do not bevel? As in, say you bevel one edge of a cube, what happens?

so you're saying that blender should support ngons

and add the bevel feature from wings3d [probably other apps too, I don't use them]

Doesn't have to, it may as well triangulate the new face.

I never really used Wings so I can't say.. I'll take a look at it. Personally I hate wings method of modeling but that's just my opinion.

Edit: Just tried it. I still hate wings. About the bevel, it's what I had in mind.. normal beveling.
