Donut? Doesn't sound professional enough!

Post by macmac » Sat Jun 04, 2005 3:57 am

When I think of Blender I think of professionalism. It seems like that, except every time I SPACE>>SURFACE>>NURBS Donut I get a little pang because that makes it feel like some high schooler put Blender together as a summer project. If you are going to call it "Donut", then just put sprinkles and icing on it for us. Call it by it's proper name. Torus. Is it that confusing? I love Blender, and that is the only flaw I can think of in it. I know it will be a long time until the next release, but if it could be fixed in the next release, that would make my day! No... That would make my week!

If that bothers you, you'd better watch out for the monkey, then.

Mabe we should call the monkey:Pan troglodytes

if you get 'pangs' that easerly. just edit the source. anyway there are more then 1 type of torus. - Blenders is spesificly a 'ring torus'..

It looks like a donut, people know what a donut is. I don't see the problem.

This may be a positive move, I heared that the sesemie streets "Cookie Monster" - has changed his behavior about cookies not being food, and only good sometimes.

In the interest of stemming over weight blender users mabe we should call them bagels instead.

Please change the name Blender to Espresso Machine too because there's nothing better
than donuts with a big mug of steaming hot coffee!

I agree with macman,

If it is a ring torus then surely call it that?

Wouldn't this be like a cube being called "box" under the menu, a sphere "globe" etc?

now that you mention it... "globe" actually sounds like a really good name for the UVsphere. In fact, I like that a lot. No sarcasm. :D

You know what? All your suggestions are great (since they're subjective). No sarcasm as well. :D The expresso machine is a good one! Maybe we could just add a feature to the themes where people can change the names/titles of the objects. A more customized interface i believe.

I'm having a problem making my bagel taste good with my espresso over here. Tomorrow I'm having cappuccino with my bagel instead. I'll keep you guys up to date with the results.

Maybe later plugins for Blender could include...
  • Oven
    Spatula
    Baguette
    Muffin
I'm hungry... All this talk of food!
