Creating running water.

Hello. I would like to know if there is a way to combine metaballs with soft body effects to create running water. What i mean is, i want to be able to pour water from a bitcher, i want the metaballs to combine like water would, but also splat or atleast jiggle when it hit for floor. Is that is impossible, is there any other way to do it?

AS par of the Summer of Code project, we have someone implementing a working fluid simulation algorithm. I assume it will be included in 2.38
