[Feature Request] Select nothing + Vertical Toolbar

Hi to everyone, I'd like to select nothing in the 3D viewport, so there isn't any object highlighted

Another request regards the Ui layout: actually i can arrange the panels in a window in a vertical way, but not his header.
It follows a demo image.

The vertical header is a must to vertical windows. Nice idea ;)

Nice mockup.

Could be usefull, But I don't think it will happen soon.
This would mean all buttons would need to know it's orientation (slider up/down).

Are the icons the wrong way on purpose or just as illustration?

And there is another thing that makes me wonder if it's worth the effort:
All tv's will be 16:9 in the near future.

About the icons: in the image they are rotated, but simply I forgot to rotate them in the classic pose :)
And there is another thing that makes me wonder if it's worth the effort:
All tv's will be 16:9 in the near future.
The fact that 16:9 format will prevail in the future,doesn't exclude that having more options to customize the UI is a benefit for the user.
Blender has a great UI, more powerful and versatile than many commercial packages, I think is right to focuse on it.
And in 16:9 TVs, I prefer Vertical Tollbars :)


And then, whit "A" key we could deselect all in scene, but it would be great if I could also select none simply by clicking in an empty space in the viewport
