export as Parasolid?

Post by ToolMan »

I'd like to be able to get a Parasolid file from Blender. I don't see a Python script for this. Is it possible?

Thanks,
Mike

I have needed solids out of blender but I dont think its that easy to do.
I resorted to using meshtosolid as it has a free trial and I only needed 1 conversion its here:(outputs acis, iges and step)
http://www.sycode.com/products/mesh_to_solid/index.htm
also found this:(Outputs anything Rhino does I guess)
http://www.fpsols.com/mesh_to_solid_rh.html
but cant afford it or rhino, by the look rhino also has functionality built in called MeshToSolid similar to the one from syscode.

Another thing I have looked into is subdivision surfaces to nurbs, Maya seems to do it well, I had a trial version of it about a year ago but again can afford that.

Theres a guy Jorg Peters who wrote an Algorythm to convert sds to nurbs
http://www.cise.ufl.edu/research/SurfLab/
he seems to know what hes on about but I cant find any implementations of it.

anyway hope that helps.

exporting a Parasolid surface

Post by ToolMan »

Actually, I don't want a solid. I want a Parasolid surface. I want the surface to be Parasolid so I can pull it into a solid modeler that uses the Parasolid kernel as its basis and so a Parasolid surface imports without any grief whatsoever.

I probably should have been more explicit.
