Mesh hair guide feuture

I think it would be greatly appriciated if it was possible to use a mesh guides instead of just curves, cause curves are hard. Or maybe possibility to vonvert a mesh to a curve.

In edit mode, under the editing buttons context, in the curve tools panel, hit either the bezier or nurbs convert button to get soft curves. Curves are only hard when they are on the poly setting.

What I meant is that I think that curves are difficult to work with, not that they have a hard shape.

correct me if I'm wrong,

but it seems impossible to animate a curve.

I think blender 2.43 make possible to control particles with a mesh unstead a curve (and animate this mesh).
It's not on the release note but I have seen it somewhere in the forum.
There is also developpement to associate physics and particles, great features for making realistic hair mouvement.

Use CTRL + H to add a Hook to a curve control point. Now you can animate the curve via the hook object (usually an empty)!

Long time no see. Great to see that one of my suggestions got implemented. Looks cool.
