Does blender have a "cut away" feature?

I was wondering if Blender has a cut away feature. I don't know its exact name but where you can use one object and over lap it with another object. Then once you remove your object it "cuts away" the over lapping section of the 2nd object. Any help would be appriciated.

I think you are talking about Booleans. Yes, you can add a Boolean modifier to meshes in the edit buttons window. Do a search here or on Elysiun.com for more info.
