Split Polygon tool

Post by Adrien » Sun May 28, 2006 12:48 pm

Hi,

I'm blender user for now 6 years, I also use Max and Maya.
I just wonder if, a day, we coult use a split polygon tool like in maya.
Split edge ring tool (ctrl +r) is interesting but limited. I mean, if you don't
wanna make a ring split. It's also be interesting to make face with more that 4 or 5 vertex.

like in this sample : (maya & 3dsmax)

it will make new Blender adept, because it's one of the most modeling needed function. (for non blender users)

1.: you can use the "knife" tool (key "K").
2.: blender currently doesn't support other than 3- or 4-sided polygons.

So, unless your action won't produce 5-sided polys, you'll be happy with the knife tool. blender makes tris, where the result doesn't give you quads.

best regards,

marin

to integrate that, blender needs a big recode

I use blender since 6 years, i know all actually possiblity to make a split polygon using Knife tool. But it will be more quickly and more easy for 3damx and Maya users to use blender.
It was just a suggest
