xgl and blender?

Post by team justice »

So i'm not sure if this is the right forums, but i need a little help.

I am fairly new to linux, and i am currently running Suse 10.1. My problem is the fact that i recently installed xgl so i could get the 3d desktop going. However, when i did this, blender became translucent. Not only could i see my desktop, but i could see the blender interface as well.

I am working with an nvidia quatro 2.

i am currently patched, and all my drivers are updated.

In advance, i tried doing a search, but couldn't really find anything helpful.

thank you!

The problems happens after installing XGL? If yes, this is not a Blender bug, XGL is unstable for the moment, remove XGL and wait for a stable release.

Some devs can correct me if wrong, but they can do anything for that since the problems is not in Blender.

@team justice

if you are under nvidia try with nvagp=0
with that option X don't crash when you exit from blender.

try running it from a command line............

XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 ./blender

I'm not sure what the performance hit is (I'm a noob with blender)
but it solves the transparency problem
